What is TikTok

tiktokIs TikTok safe to use?

As of my last update in December 2022, TikTok has become a popular social media platform, but there were concerns about its safety and privacy practices. Here are some factors to consider:

  1. Privacy Concerns: TikTok collects a significant amount of user data, including location information, device information, and browsing history. This raised concerns about how this data was being used and shared.
  2. Data Security: There were reports of vulnerabilities and potential security risks in the TikTok app, which could expose user data to potential breaches or unauthorized access.
  3. Content Exposure: The nature of TikTok, being a video-sharing platform, means that users can potentially share personal information unintentionally or expose themselves to cyber bullying and online harassment.
  4. Age Restrictions: TikTok has a minimum age requirement, but enforcing it can be challenging. Younger users might be exposed to content that’s not suitable for their age.
  5. Inappropriate Content: Like any social media platform, TikTok can host a range of content, including inappropriate or explicit material. The platform does have some content moderation measures in place, but they might not catch everything.
  6. User Experience: The addictive nature of TikTok might lead to excessive screen time, which can have implications for mental health and productivity.

creative challengeTo determine if TikTok is safe for you to use, consider the following steps:

  1. Review Privacy Settings: Take a look at the app’s privacy settings and customize them to your comfort level. Limit the amount of personal information you share on the platform.
  2. Check Permissions: Be cautious about granting permissions to access your camera, microphone, and location. Only provide these permissions when necessary.
  3. Understand Content: Familiarize yourself with the types of content shared on TikTok and be mindful of what you engage with.
  4. Monitor Usage: Keep track of your usage time on the app and ensure it doesn’t interfere with your daily responsibilities or well-being.
  5. Educate Yourself: Stay informed about the latest privacy and security concerns related to TikTok and other social media platforms.
  6. Talk to Young Users: If you’re a parent or guardian of a young user, have an open conversation about the potential risks and responsible usage of TikTok.

Remember that the safety of any online platform can evolve over time, and it’s important to stay updated on current trends and news related to TikTok’s safety measures and practices.

What age group uses TikTok the most?

TikTok was most popular among younger age groups, particularly teenagers and young adults. The platform gained significant traction among users in their teens and early twenties. However, this popularity might have continued to evolve since then.

TikTok’s user base varies by region and demographic factors, but it generally appeals to:

  1. Teenagers: TikTok became especially popular among teenagers, offering them a platform for creative expression and entertainment.
  2. Young Adults: Users in their early twenties also make up a substantial portion of TikTok’s user base. Many college students and young professionals use the app.
  3. Younger Users: There are also users below the age of 13 on TikTok, although the platform’s terms of service officially require users to be at least 13 years old.

It’s worth noting that the age distribution on social media platforms can change over time, and newer data might provide more accurate insights into the current demographics of TikTok users. If you’re interested in the most up-to-date information, I recommend checking recent surveys or studies about TikTok’s user demographics.

What is the biggest use of tiktok?

TikTok is primarily used as a short-form video-sharing platform where users can create, share, and discover videos set to music. The biggest use of TikTok is for entertainment and creative expression. Here are some of the main ways in which people use TikTok:

  1. Video Creation: Users create short videos, typically ranging from 15 seconds to 3 minutes, often set to music. These videos can showcase a wide range of content, including lip-syncing, dancing, comedy skits, tutorials, challenges, and more.
  2. Entertainment: TikTok is a hub for discovering entertaining and engaging content. Users scroll through their “For You” page to watch videos from a diverse range of creators, exploring trending challenges, memes, and creative ideas.
  3. Trends and Challenges: TikTok is known for viral challenges and trends that spread rapidly throughout the platform. Users participate in these challenges by creating their own videos that adhere to a specific theme or concept.
  4. Music Discovery: Many songs become popular on TikTok due to their use in viral videos. This has led to increased exposure for artists and has even influenced music charts and streaming platforms.
  5. Creativity and Artistic Expression: TikTok provides a platform for users to express their creativity through visual storytelling, video editing, and innovative ideas.
  6. Personal Branding: Some users use TikTok as a way to build their personal brand and gain a following. This has led to the rise of social media influencers and content creators on the platform.
  7. Educational Content: TikTok is also used to share informative and educational content. Users create videos that teach various skills, provide tips, or share knowledge on a wide range of subjects.
  8. Social Interaction: TikTok has a strong sense of community, with users engaging through comments, likes, shares, and duets (videos that are created in response to another user’s video). It can serve as a way for people to connect and interact with others who share similar interests.
  9. Business and Marketing: Brands and businesses have also started using TikTok as a marketing platform to reach younger audiences and promote their products or services.

The way people use TikTok can vary widely based on their interests, age, and cultural context. The platform’s dynamic nature and ability to quickly spread content have contributed to its popularity as a space for entertainment and creativity.

looking-at-phoneDoes TikTok save your data?

Yes, TikTok collects and saves user data. Like many other social media platforms, TikTok gathers various types of data from its users. This data can include:

  1. User Profile Information: This includes the information you provide when you create an account, such as your username, profile picture, and bio.
  2. Usage Data: TikTok collects information about how you interact with the app, such as the videos you watch, the accounts you follow, the likes and comments you make, and the hashtags you use.
  3. Device Information: The app collects data about your device, including its type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and other technical information.
  4. Location Data: If you allow TikTok to access your location, the app can collect information about your precise or general location.
  5. Contact Information: If you grant permission, TikTok can access your phone’s contact list, which helps the app suggest friends to follow.
  6. Metadata: This includes information about the videos you upload, such as the time and date of the video, the location where it was recorded, and the captions and hashtags you include.

It’s important to note that TikTok has faced scrutiny and criticism regarding its data privacy practices. Concerns have been raised about how the collected data is used, shared, and potentially accessed by third parties. TikTok’s ownership by a Chinese company, ByteDance, has also led to concerns about potential connections to the Chinese government and data security.

To address some of these concerns, TikTok has taken steps to enhance transparency and privacy for its users. For instance, they’ve introduced features that allow users to control who can comment on their videos, who can duet with them, and more. They’ve also published guidelines on how they handle user data and have set up a Trust and Safety Hub to provide more information about their safety and security practices.

However, it’s always a good practice to review an app’s privacy policy and settings to understand how your data is being used and take appropriate steps to protect your privacy online.

Can anyone use TikTok?

TikTok has age restrictions in place, and its terms of service officially require users to be at least 13 years old to create an account and use the platform. However, like with many online platforms, enforcing these age restrictions can be challenging.

TikTok offers a separate app called “TikTok for Younger Users” that is designed for users under the age of 13. This version provides a more limited experience and additional privacy protections to comply with child online privacy laws, such as the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States.

It’s important to note that while TikTok has these age restrictions, some younger users might still find ways to access the platform by providing false information about their age. Parents and guardians are encouraged to have conversations with their children about online safety and responsible internet usage, especially when it comes to social media platforms like TikTok.

How Do Sunless Tanning Products Work?

Your skin is made up of two main layers: the outer layer called the and the inner layer called the dermis. In both normal sun tanning and sunless sun tanning, the action occurs at the epidermis level. The deepest layer of the epidermis is called the Stratum Basale, and this is the layer that is affected during normal sun tanning. The stratum corneum is the outermost layer of the epidermis, and this is the layer that is affected by most sunless tanning products.

In today’s market, there are several different kinds of sunless-tanning products available. Since the early 1960s, people have been able to get their tan from a bottle. Coppertone was the first to hit the market with its Quick Tanning Lotion. What it is most remembered for is the wonderful carrot-orange hue it produced.

There have been many advancements in self-tanning since the early years. Nowadays, you can purchase tanning pills,  self-tanners, sunless tanners, bronzers, and a host of other similar types of products. You can smooth, swipe or spray on a light bronze glow or a deep, dark tan. Most of these products take 45 to 60 minutes to work and then another couple of hours to dry properly.

The most effective sunless or self-tanning products contain the active ingredient DHA [dihydroxyacetone]. DHA is a colorless sugar that interacts with the dead cells located in the stratum corneum of the epidermis. As the sugar interacts with the dead skin cells, the skin changes color. These changes last from 3 to 7 days, and then you’ll need to reapply.

Gels, lotions, or sprays that contain DHA are said to be the most reliable. There are other very good products on the market as well, such as tan accelerators that contain the amino acid tyrosine. Tyrosine stimulates and increases the formation of melanin, thereby accelerating the tanning process. Currently, there is no scientific data available to support these claims.

Tanning pills contain canthaxanthin, a color additive used in some foods. Canthaxanthin is approved by the FDA for food use, but it is not approved for the use of it in tanning agents. This is because when it is used as a color additive, very small amounts are needed, but when used as a tanning agent, much larger quantities are needed.

After canthaxanthin is eaten, it is deposited all over your body, including in your skin, which turns an orange-brown color. These types of tanning pills have been linked to side effects such as hepatitis and canthaxanthin retinopathy. Canthaxanthin retinopathy is a condition in which yellow deposits form in the retina of the eye.

Bronzers are also very popular. Bronzers come in the form of powders or moisturizers. They create an instant tan that can be removed with soap and water. Bronzers are a line of make-up because they only tint the surface of your skin.

If you’re going outdoors, make certain to still use your regular sunscreen protection. Sunless tanning agents do not protect you from the damaging rays of the sun unless they have UVA and UVB protection.

Your sunless tan will only last as long as the colored skin layer remains intact on your body, so moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize some more, because this will slow down the shedding process and extend the life of your sunless tan.

Tanning Mother Nature’s Way

When you tan, your melanocytes produce melanin pigment in reaction to ultraviolet light in sunlight, which stimulates melanin production. The pigment can absorb UV radiation in sunlight, so it can protect the cells from UV damage.

Melanin production is slow and takes a fair bit of time, which is why people cannot get a suntan in one day [although a small percentage of the population can]. What you need to do is expose yourself to the sun’s UV rays for a short period between 4 to 7 days. By doing this, your cells will build up a level of protection.

For many races, melanin production is continuous, so the skin is always pigmented to some degree, so they have constant protection from UV radiation. Very low cancer rates are seen in these races. Melanocytes produce two different pigments: brown eumelanin and phaeomelanin which are yellow and red. Redheads produce more phaeomelanin and less eumelanin, which is why they don’t tan well.

Sunlight arrives on Earth in three forms: infrared (heat), visible light, and ultraviolet. Ultraviolet light is classified into three categories: UVA, which causes tanning, UVB which damages the skin and causes sunburn; and UVC, which is filtered out by the atmosphere and never reaches Earth, 99% of the sun’s UV radiation at sea level is UVA. UVB is the one that wreaks havoc on our skin, causing premature aging, deep wrinkles, and in the worst cases, cancer.

UV radiation is reflected by different surfaces, so you can amplify your exposure depending on the reflective surface. Snow reflects up to 90% of UV light and has been known to cause snow blindness and severe sunburn from skiing on a sunny day. Sand reflects up to 20% of the UVB that hits it, so you get extra UV exposure at the beach or when camping.

The flip to this is that some things absorb almost all the UV radiation. Glass is a perfect example – that’s why you don’t burn in your car on a hot day. Sunscreens use chemicals that have UV-absorbing properties.

Dark-skinned people do not have natural built-in protection, as do many races. So, if you are a Caucasian with no tan, then your skin is not protected from UV rays, making you susceptible to sunburn if you spend too much time in the sun. Sunburn leaves your skin red and extremely painful; in severe cases, blisters will appear. Home Remedies for Sunburn 2

Over several hours, exposed skin turns bright red and becomes extremely painful when touched. Most times, you can feel the heat radiating from the skin. When you get a sunburn, you have killed skin cells. The outer epidermis is already dead skin cells, but just below these cells is a continuous supply of new cells being created to replenish the top layer of dead cells.

When you sit in the sun, you expose yourself to ultraviolet light, which kills cells. Ultraviolet light can reach the layer of living cells in the epidermis and begins to damage and kill them.

Your body knows that cells are being killed, so your immune system is activated to clean things up. Blood flow to the area is increased, opening capillary walls so white blood cells can come in and remove the damaged cells. The increased blood flow makes your skin warm and red. The nerve endings for pain begin sending signals to your brain. The damaged cells release chemicals that activate pain receptors, and this is the result where your sunburn hurts or is very sensitive.

You can avoid sunburn by using a proper strength sunscreen or pace yourself getting a tan which then acts as a natural sunscreen created with its special pigment cells in the epidermis. When you have a nice tan and go out in the sun, you don’t get burnt unless you are so fair you never tan, in which case you need to use sunscreen all the time.

Evidence is now showing that the massive increase in skin cancer is a result of sun exposure that occurred, in many cases, over 20 years ago. So, take care of your skin by using sunscreen; it’s the only skin you’ve got for your lifetime.

We all seem to strive for the rich golden color of summer. It lifts our spirits and makes us feel better all over. Whichever method you decide to use to get that golden brown skin, use common sense to achieve your goals, and always wear sunscreen when outside.

Your skin will thank you 20 or 30 years from now when you’re not all wrinkled like a prune and not undergoing skin cancer treatments.

Proper Body Posture

Maintaining proper body posture is essential for overall health and well-being. Here are some tips to help you maintain good posture:

“Sit and stand tall” is an encouragement or instruction often given to improve posture. It suggests that one should maintain an upright and aligned position while sitting or standing. This can help promote good spinal alignment, reduce strain on the body, and project an air of confidence. Remember to sit with your back straight and shoulders relaxed, and when standing, maintain an upright stance with your shoulders back and chin slightly lifted.

Support your lower back: When sitting for prolonged periods, use a chair with good lumbar support or place a small pillow or cushion behind your lower back to maintain the natural curve of your spine.

Supporting your lower back is important for maintaining good posture and preventing strain or injuries.

Maintaining the Proper Body PostureHere are a few ways you can support your lower back:

  • Maintain proper posture: Sit or stand up straight with your shoulders back and relaxed. Avoid slouching or hunching forward, as this puts extra pressure on your lower back.
  • Use ergonomic seating: If you have a desk job, invest in an ergonomic chair that provides lumbar support. Ensure the chair is adjusted to fit the natural curve of your spine.
  • Practice core-strengthening exercises: Building a strong core can help support your lower back. Exercises like planks, bridges, and bird dogs can strengthen the abdominal and back muscles.
  • Lift properly: When lifting heavy objects, use your legs rather than your back. Bend your knees and keep your back straight as you lift, using the strength of your legs and core to do the work.
  • Take breaks and stretch: If you have a sedentary job, take regular breaks to stretch and move around. Stretching can help relieve tension in your lower back and keep your muscles flexible.
  • Remember, if you experience persistent or severe lower back pain, it’s best to consult a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
  • Ergonomic furniture refers to furniture items that are designed to promote good posture, provide support, and enhance overall comfort during prolonged periods of sitting or working.

Here are a few examples of ergonomic furniture:

  • Ergonomic Chairs: These chairs are adjustable in height, have proper lumbar support, and often come with adjustable armrests and headrests. They promote good posture and reduce the risk of back and neck strain.
  • Adjustable Standing Desks: These desks allow you to switch between sitting and standing positions while working. They help reduce sedentary behavior and can alleviate the stress on your back, neck, and shoulders.

Adjustable standing desks are desks that can be easily adjusted in height, allowing users to switch between sitting and standing positions while working. These desks typically have mechanisms or motors that enable smooth height adjustments, allowing users to find the most comfortable and ergonomic position for their needs.

Using an ergonomic keyboard and mouse can provide several benefits, including:

  • Reduced strain and discomfort: Ergonomic keyboards and mice are designed to promote a more relaxed and natural hand, wrist, and arm position. This reduces the strain on muscles and tendons, minimizing the risk of developing repetitive strain injuries (RSIs) like carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • Increased comfort and productivity: By offering a more comfortable typing and navigating experience, ergonomic peripherals can help prevent fatigue and discomfort during extended computer use. This improved comfort can lead to increased productivity, as users are less likely to experience pain or distraction.
  • Improved posture: Ergonomic keyboards and mice encourage healthier typing and mousing positions, which can help maintain proper posture. This helps reduce the risk of developing musculoskeletal issues such as neck, shoulder, and back pain.
  • Customizability and adaptability: Many ergonomic peripherals offer customizable features, allowing users to adjust keyboard tilt, mouse sensitivity, and other settings to suit their individual needs and preferences. This adaptability enhances user comfort and optimizes the user interface for better efficiency.
  • Prevention of long-term health issues: By promoting proper alignment and reducing stress on joints, ergonomic keyboards and mice can contribute to the prevention of long-term health issues associated with repetitive computer use. This includes conditions like tendonitis, bursitis, and other RSIs.

Overall, using an ergonomic keyboard and mouse can significantly enhance user comfort, productivity, and long-term health by reducing strain and promoting better posture.

Monitor Stands: These stands help position your computer monitor at eye level, reducing strain on your neck and preventing slouching.

  • Footrests: Using a footrest can help improve blood circulation, reduce pressure on your legs, and promote better posture while sitting. When it comes to footrests, they are typically designed to provide support and comfort for your feet while sitting for extended periods. They can be used in various settings such as offices, homes, or even during travel. Footrests can help improve circulation, reduce leg strain, and promote proper posture by elevating your feet off the ground.

There are different types of footrests available, including adjustable footrests that allow you to customize the height and angle according to your preference. Some footrests feature built-in massage or heat functions for added relaxation.

Take regular breaks: If you have a sedentary job, make sure to take breaks every 30 minutes or so. Stand up, stretch, and move around to relieve muscle tension and stress on your spine.

  • Taking regular breaks is essential for maintaining productivity and overall well-being. It allows you to rest and recharge, preventing mental fatigue and burnout. Remember to schedule short breaks throughout your work or study sessions. Stand up, stretch, go for a walk, or engage in activities that help clear your mind. By incorporating regular breaks into your routine, you can improve focus, creativity, and overall productivity.
  • Strengthen your core muscles: Regular exercise, particularly activities that target your core muscles (e.g., Pilates, yoga, planks), can help improve your posture by strengthening the muscles that support your spine.

When lifting objects, bend your knees, keep your back straight, and use your leg muscles to lift the load. Avoid twisting your body while lifting, it’s important to follow proper lifting techniques to avoid injury.

Here are some tips:

  • Plan and assess: Before attempting to lift, assess the weight of the object and make sure it’s within your capabilities. If it’s too heavy, ask for assistance or use equipment like a dolly or lifting straps.
  • Warm up: Perform some light stretching or a brief warm-up exercise to prepare your muscles for the task.
  • Use proper posture: Stand close to the object with your feet shoulder-width apart for stability. Bend at your knees, not your waist, and keep your back straight. Avoid twisting your body while lifting.
  • Get a good grip: Use both hands to get a secure grip on the object. If it has handles, use them. If not, grip it firmly on opposite sides.
  • Lift with your legs: Engage your leg muscles by straightening your knees while lifting. Use the power of your legs, not your back, to lift the object.
  • Keep it close: Hold the object close to your body to maintain balance and reduce strain on your back.
  • Take small steps: Instead of twisting or turning, take small steps to change direction. This helps prevent back injuries.
  • Know your limits: If an object is too heavy to lift safely, don’t hesitate to ask for assistance or use mechanical aids.

Remember, proper lifting techniques are crucial for avoiding back strain or other injuries. If you have any concerns about your physical ability to lift heavy objects, consult with a healthcare professional.

Sleep in a good position: Choose a mattress and pillow that provide adequate support for your spine. Sleeping on your back or side with a pillow that aligns your head with your neck is generally considered good for maintaining proper posture during sleep.

Maintaining the Proper Body Posture 6When it comes to sleeping in a good position, it largely depends on individual comfort and any specific health conditions. However, here are a few general tips:

  • Back Sleeping: Sleeping on your back with a pillow to support your neck and a small pillow beneath your knees can help maintain a neutral spine alignment.
  • Side Sleeping: If you prefer sleeping on your side, try placing a pillow between your knees to keep your hips aligned. Use a supportive pillow that keeps your head and neck in line with your spine.
  • Avoid Stomach Sleeping: Sleeping on your stomach can strain your neck and spine. If possible, try to avoid this position or use a flat pillow to minimize strain.
  • Mattress and Pillow Support: It’s essential to have a mattress and pillow that offer adequate support based on your comfort preferences and any existing chronic pain or conditions. Everyone’s needs differ, so choose what works best for you.

Remember, finding a comfortable and supportive sleeping position is subjective. It’s important to listen to your body and make adjustments as needed to promote healthy and restful sleep.

Remember, practicing good posture is a habit that needs to be developed over time. Be mindful of your body alignment throughout the day and make necessary adjustments to maintain proper posture.

Inflammation: What It Is and Why It Matters

Inflammation is a natural and essential part of our body’s defense system.

It helps us fight off infections, heal wounds, and repair damaged tissues. However, when inflammation becomes chronic or excessive, it can also cause harm and contribute to various diseases.

In this article, we will explore what inflammation is, how it works, what causes it, and how we can manage it.

What is inflammation?

Inflammation: What It Is and Why It Matters. Inflammation is a complex biological response that involves immune cells, blood vessels, and molecular mediators. It is triggered by harmful stimuli, such as pathogens (bacteria, viruses, fungi), physical agents (trauma, burns, radiation), chemicals (acids, alkalis, oxidizing agents), inappropriate immunological responses (allergies, autoimmunity), and tissue death (necrosis).

The main purpose of inflammation is to localize and eliminate the source of injury and to remove the damaged tissue components so that the healing process can begin. To achieve this, inflammation causes several changes in the affected area, such as:

  • Increased blood flow, which brings more oxygen and nutrients to the site of injury and helps remove waste products.
  • Increased permeability of blood vessels, which allows fluid, proteins, and white blood cells (leukocytes) to leak out of the circulation and into the tissue space.
  • Accumulation of fluid (edema) and cells (exudate) in the tissue space, which dilutes and neutralizes the harmful agents and forms a physical barrier against their spread.
  • Migration of leukocytes from the blood vessels to the tissue space, where they engulf and destroy the foreign substances (phagocytosis) and release various substances that amplify or regulate the inflammatory response (cytokines, chemokines, prostaglandins, etc.).
  • Formation of a clot (fibrin) that seals off the injured area and prevents bleeding.
  • Activation of the complement system, a group of proteins that enhance the actions of leukocytes and other inflammatory mediators.

These changes result in the characteristic signs and symptoms of inflammation: rednessheatswellingpain, and loss of function. These signs are usually more pronounced in acute inflammation, which lasts only a few days and is usually beneficial. However, in some cases, inflammation can become chronic or excessive and cause tissue damage or disease.

What causes chronic or excessive inflammation?

Chronic or excessive inflammation can be caused by what is the main cause of inflammation in the body occur when:

  • The harmful stimulus persists or is not adequately removed (e.g., chronic infection, foreign body).
  • The regulatory mechanisms of the inflammatory response are defective or overwhelmed (e.g., genetic defects, immunosuppression).
  • The immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s tissues (e.g., autoimmune diseases).
  • The inflammatory response is triggered by harmless or normal stimuli (e.g., allergies).

Chronic or excessive inflammation can have detrimental effects on the body:

  • Tissue destruction: The prolonged presence of inflammatory cells and mediators can damage healthy tissues and organs. For example, chronic inflammation in the joints can lead to rheumatoid arthritis, while chronic inflammation in the lungs can lead to asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
  • Systemic effects: The inflammatory mediators can enter the bloodstream and affect other parts of the body. For example, chronic inflammation can cause fever, fatigue, weight loss, anemia, etc. In severe cases, it can also cause sepsis, a life-threatening condition where the inflammatory response becomes widespread and uncontrolled.
  • Increased risk of other diseases: Chronic inflammation can alter the normal functioning of various systems in the body and increase the risk of developing other diseases.
  • Chronic inflammation can have various negative effects on the body. It may promote the formation of plaque in the arteries, leading to cardiovascular diseases. It can also impair insulin sensitivity, resulting in diabetes. Moreover, chronic inflammation can stimulate cell proliferation and inhibit programmed cell death, which may contribute to the development of cancer.

How can we manage inflammation?

The management of inflammation depends on its cause and severity. In general, it involves these inflammation types:

InflammationTreating inflammation varies based on its cause and severity. Several medications can be used to alleviate inflammation, including:

  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): These are over-the-counter (OTC) drugs that can reduce pain, fever, and inflammation. Examples include ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin. However, they may also have side effects such as stomach ulcers, bleeding, kidney damage, and an increased risk of heart problems.
  • Acetaminophen: This is another OTC drug that can relieve pain and fever, but not inflammation. It is generally safer than NSAIDs for most people, but it can cause liver damage if taken in high doses or with alcohol.
  • Corticosteroids: These are prescription drugs that can suppress the immune system and reduce inflammation. They can be taken orally, injected, or applied topically.
  • Examples include prednisone, hydrocortisone, and dexamethasone. But foods are the best medicine. They are effective in treating severe or chronic inflammation, but they may also cause side effects such as weight gain, diabetes, osteoporosis, infections, and mood changes.

Other treatments for inflammation may include:

  • Antibiotics or antifungals: These are prescription drugs that can treat infections that cause inflammation. They work by killing or stopping the growth of bacteria or fungi. Examples include penicillin, amoxicillin, fluconazole, and ketoconazole. They may have side effects such as allergic reactions, diarrhea, nausea, and yeast infections.
  • Immunotherapy: This is a type of treatment that uses substances that stimulate or suppress the immune system to treat inflammatory diseases. Examples include monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, and immunosuppressants. They may have side effects such as infusion reactions, infections, allergic reactions, and organ damage.
  • Lifestyle changes: Some lifestyle factors can contribute to what is inflammation in body or reduce inflammation in the body. For example, avoiding or limiting inflammatory foods such as sugar, refined carbs, trans fats, processed meats, alcohol, etc., and increasing anti-inflammatory foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, fatty fish, olive oil, etc. may help manage inflammation. Other lifestyle changes that may help include regular physical activity, stress management, adequate sleep, smoking cessation, etc.
  • Supplements: Some vitamins (vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D) and supplements (zinc) may reduce inflammation and enhance repair. Other supplements that may have anti-inflammatory effects include omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil), curcumin (turmeric), ginger, and garlic.

There are some words often hard to understand and recognize the meaning of such as ‘Inflammo’, a Latin word that means “to set on fire”. Have you been feeling like you’re on fire lately? No, I don’t mean the good kind of fire. I mean inflammations. Inflammation is a good thing. It is our body’s natural defense mechanism against infection and traumas.

The real problem starts when your immune system starts to overdo it, and when too much inflammation occurs. When inflammation has gone wild this can slowly destroy a person’s organs and different functional abilities. They were found to be the root causes of deadly conditions like heart disease, dementia, diabetes, and even cancer. These chronic inflammations can also be caused by low physical activity, a poor diet, and the stress of everyday life.

So how exactly do we prevent this from happening?

Most of the time people resort to prescription drugs such as ibuprofen or Advil. Unfortunately, these drugs can have serious and dangerous side effects. The answer to a chronic inflammation-free life is a healthy lifestyle. This includes staying active, exercising regularly, getting all your needed rest, and of course, eating healthy. This includes as many anti-inflammatory foods and fruits as possible.

  • Real Food

To have a well-balanced diet that helps fight against inflammation, you need to keep eating real food. This means fresh, unprocessed, natural food that isn’t full of additives, preservatives, artificial ingredients, sugar, and trans fats.

Although, let’s not get confused about fat; make no mistake, unprocessed saturated fat is good for you. The main food categories that health experts usually refer to help inflammation are omega-3 fatty acids, such as herbs, vegetables, and anti-inflammatory fruits. Not only fruits but also by eating a lot of oily fish like salmon and tuna.

These also contain omega-3 fatty acids, which have powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Nuts, seeds, and olive oil contain omega-3. Herbs are often overlooked here. Add as many herbs as possible to your meals.

Many herbs help against inflammation. Some of these are basil, thyme, rosemary, parsley, ginger, and turmeric.

  • Drinks

Avoid drinking sodas, any type of soft drinks, sports drinks, and as well health drinks. Most fruit juices also contain ingredients that are better avoided. Making your juice from fresh fruit is a better option. Some juices are free from artificial sweeteners and flavorings, such as apples and pomegranate. Make sure you check the label first; it should say 100 percent pure. Make green tea one of your regular beverages; instead, of sugar use honey as a sweetener for taste.

Remember, your parents were right when they told you to eat your vegetables. Start piling veggies like broccoli, carrots, radish, kale, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, spinach, cauliflower, beets, ginger, and sea vegetables on your plate. It is important though, not to overcook or fry them. It’s best to cook them slowly or eat them almost raw, only lightly simmered or steamed. Many of these vegetables are rich in plant sterols. The many nutrients in vegetables are vital for general health and to continue a good immune system. Ginger reduces inflammation; ginger also is an effective natural remedy for pain.

  • Anti-Inflammatory Fruits

There are many varieties of fruits that you can eat containing anti-inflammatory properties. However, all the darker, more vividly colored fruits are somehow the ones packed with the antioxidants and phytochemicals needed to combat chronic inflammation. Also, the best fruits to eat are those with the least amount of natural sugar.

The following are the usually recommended anti-inflammatory by health experts: Blueberries, strawberries, apples, cherries, citrus fruit, papayas, pineapples, plums, grapes, and pears. Advised is to have at least 5-10 servings of combined fruits and vegetables every day. There are days and times when it is not always possible to follow a diet plan as such. To make up for any shortfall a supplement is the best solution. Although not just any supplement will do; a supplement made from natural ingredients only, of the required fruits, must include omega 3 and glucosamine. In addition: In a liquid form for quick and total absorption into the bloodstream.

If inflammation is one of your issues, wait no longer. Start changing your lifestyle now and throw away that bag of chips on your lap. Anti-inflammatory fruits, omega-3 fats, and antioxidant veggies are the way to go.

We shouldn’t ignore the body’s signs. Have you ever noticed that when an injury happens your body tends to swell up? Our body’s natural reaction to various kinds of injuries is swelling or redness of the infected part.

This automatic response of our body is known as inflammation. There are two types of inflammation: Acute and Chronic. Acute inflammation is the localized response to any injuries. This reaction will help the injured body tissues to heal and restore their functions. If the inflammation stays in your body for a long time, then it is known as chronic inflammation. It is generally caused because of any infection, allergy, or autoimmune reaction.

Many anti-inflammatory drugs are generally used for reducing inflammation. But regular use of drugs normally results in side effects. The more common side effects from prolonged drug medications are indigestion and stomach ulcers; it can affect the liver and kidneys, as well as hypertension, stroke, etc.

  • Anti-Inflammatory Spices

Therefore, the recommendations are to eat natural food instead. Such food items that you eat in your normal diet may already be anti-inflammatory, especially if you include anti-inflammatory spices. Spices are much more beneficial. Here are some of the most effective spices available in the market near you.

most popular spices for inflammation 2Turmeric: As mentioned many times in previous articles, turmeric is one of the most commonly and most effectively used anti-inflammatory spices. Go to any Indian grocery store or natural health shop and you are sure to find this brilliant, yellow-colored spice.

Turmeric has an ingredient called curcumin, which is known to have the required properties to reduce inflammation. For centuries turmeric is known to have great medicinal value and is used to treat colds, infections, wounds, and even liver diseases. Turmeric’s main ingredient curcumin is also a good support for the immune system and digestive function.

Ginger: A tingling and zesty spice that is found in most Asian cuisines is another spice with great medicinal value. It is good for effectively treating health problems like headaches, stomach aches, and infections. It is available in most grocery shops either as a root or in powdered form. Include ginger in your daily diet (either in food or even in your tea); plus, all other benefits ginger will help to get rid of inflammation.

Cinnamon is one such spice and comes from the bark of a tree. It is extremely beneficial for treating bronchitis and any issues related to the gastrointestinal. However, Castro intestinal is affecting the stomach and intestines. The element cinnamaldehyde present in cinnamon helps in preventing the clumping of the platelets. Thus, it reduces inflammation and is known as one of the best anti-inflammatory spices.

Cinnamaldehyde is also an organic compound that gives cinnamon its flavor and odor. Cinnamon is known in most parts of the world, but there are still many who brush it off. It will greatly help in reducing your blood sugar and risk of cardiovascular disease. Other benefits of cinnamon include lowering cholesterol, helping with yeast infections, arthritis relief, and have provisions of anti-bacterial effects.

Garlic is also recognized for its many health benefits; on top of that, it gives a wonderful flavor to most cuisines. Garlic also has a certain unique combination of sulfur compounds that help in preventing inflammation. It is rich in magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, selenium, vitamins B6 and C, and others. According to research garlic is a useful way to improve its antioxidant potential.

Black Pepper: This inclusion of a natural compound called capsaicin in black pepper is a good remedy and effective for digestion. In addition, it is also known to reduce inflammation. Since it is milder as compared to chilly, you can include it in all your meals. In addition to being good for health, these anti-inflammatory spices are also cost-effective. Unlike drugs, constant use of these spices does not cause any sort of side effects. So, go ahead, include them in your daily meals, and experience the benefits, stay fit and healthy. There have been decades of scientific evidence to prove, that nutrients, herbs, and spices have tremendous value and health benefits.

  • Summary

Inflammation is a natural and essential part of our body’s defense system. It helps us fight off infections, heal wounds, and repair damaged tissues. However, when inflammation becomes chronic or excessive, it can also cause harm and contribute to various diseases.

By treating the underlying cause, reducing or controlling the inflammatory response, supporting the healing process, and adopting an anti-inflammatory lifestyle, we can manage inflammation and improve our health.

Benefits of Apples

Benefits of Apples 3Benefits of Apples, did you know that apples provide numerous health benefits beyond being a tasty snack?

Studies have demonstrated that consuming apples can lower the risk of heart disease and potentially safeguard against lung cancer.

What are the health benefits of apples, they could also decrease the chances of asthma and enhance your lung function overall. Antioxidant Protection Phenolics are some of the most powerful disease-fighting components in apples, and they have been getting a lot of research attention lately.

Phenolics are a group of phytochemicals that function as potent antioxidants, effectively eliminating free radicals that may harm your DNA and other crucial components of your body.

Researchers at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and Seoul University in South Korea found that these phenolics may provide the bulk of the antioxidant power in apples, rather than the vitamin C. Other research from Cornell set out to rank the total phenolic content in many popular fruits. Apples came in second place behind the cranberries and beat out other favorites such as the red grape, strawberry, pineapple, banana, peach lemon, orange, pear, and grapefruit.

According to this study, apples rank second in total antioxidant activity among various fruits, with cranberries taking the lead. Additionally, apples are not only delicious but also require minimal preparation time and are versatile, making them an excellent source of antioxidants for those seeking a quick and easy option.

Getting to the Heart of the Matter

Benefits of ApplesThe phytochemicals in apples may make them useful tools in warding off heart disease. A study that followed almost 40,000 women for about seven years associated apples with a 13% to 22% lower risk of cardiovascular disease.

A study conducted in Finland has discovered that women who consume flavonoids, a type of phenolics present in apples, have a lower risk of dying from heart disease. Another study, involving more than 30,000 older Iowa women found that consuming catechin and epicatechin – both flavonoids found in apples – was associated with a lower risk of death from coronary heart disease.

Although the flesh of an apple is favored by many, it is important to note that much of the fruit’s healing properties are found in the skin. The skin contains a significant amount, approximately 4 mg, of an antioxidant compound known as quercetin. Like the benefits of vitamin C and beta-carotene, quercetin can protect cells from harmful oxygen molecules.

The skin contains a significant amount, approximately 4 milligrams, of an antioxidant compound known as quercetin. Like the benefits of vitamin C and beta-carotene, quercetin can protect cells from harmful oxygen molecules.

Even in the healing world of antioxidants, quercetin is thought to be exceptional. Another Finnish study, this one following more than 10,000 men and women, found that the people who ate the most quercetin had a 20% lower risk of dying from coronary heart disease than those who ate the least.

Research suggests that consuming apples daily “could” potentially lower the risk of developing lung cancer, particularly in women. A study involving over 120,000 men and women found that women who ate at least one serving of apples a day had a reduced risk of lung cancer.

Another study conducted in Hawaii analyzed the dietary habits of 600 lung cancer patients and 550 individuals without the disease. The findings revealed that those who consumed higher amounts of apples, onions, and white grapefruit had almost a 55% lower risk of developing lung cancer than those who consumed these foods in lower amounts.

Did you know that eating apples may positively impact your lung health? Research has shown that both apple and pear consumption is linked to a lower risk of asthma, as demonstrated by a study of 1,600 adults in Australia.

A study conducted on more than 13,000 adults in the Netherlands revealed that consuming a higher number of apples and pears is linked to improved lung function and a reduced risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

It’s interesting to note that apples are not only tasty but also have digestive health benefits. A 5-oz apple, with its skin intact, has around 3 grams of both soluble and insoluble fiber. Research shows that benefits of apple for skin can help alleviate constipation, while a healthy gut can decrease the risk of colon cancer and the benefits of apples for the skin.

Benefits of Apples 44Apples are also an excellent food for weight control, as the insoluble fiber can make you feel full and aid in weight loss without feeling hungry.

The soluble fiber in apples, which is the same kind that is found in oat bran, acts differently from the insoluble kind. Instead of passing through the digestive tract more or less unchanged, soluble fiber forms a gel-like material in the digestive tract that helps lower cholesterol and the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Consuming how many apples should i eat a day, a type of soluble fiber, can effectively lower cholesterol production in the liver. Interestingly, a medium-sized apple contains 0.7 grams of pectin, more than strawberries and bananas.

Age-old knowledge tells us that we should always try to eat fruit to remain healthy. One time once more, science catches the previous adage. The latest study suggests that compounds in the fruit, mainly apples, may increase brain conditioning as you age.

Specifically, scientists discovered that phenolics, extracted from apples, bananas, and oranges secured neuron-like cells from dying in a dish. But previously we get into the new success let us include a bit of track record on exactly what the fruits may be engaging in to protect your mind.

One of the things that can injure bodily tissues and lead to illness is oxidative tension. This is often fundamentally a system that ordinarily comes about during the manufacturing of energy. Identical to a nuclear reactor may make electricity pretty proficiently, but simultaneously makes poisonous by-products, so do our tissues.

Since the brain gets dibs on about 20% of the energy that you take in, it’s lots of electrical power production going on and is also vulnerable to oxidative anxiety. The fact is several research reveals that Alzheimer’s illness brains are hugely vulnerable to oxidative worry and that this will be a single causative factor in developing the condition to start with.

Fruit can shield you from Oxidative Stress

That’s the awful news, now here’s the good news. Antioxidants noticed in vegetables and fruit may also help avert oxidative emotional stress by neutralizing the toxic by-products from the vigor generation system. That is why getting your proposed five to nine servings each day is so very important. This offers your brain and human body what it really should struggle with oxidative pressure.

In new research, experts from Korea and Cornell, extracted specific nutrients, named phenols, from apples, bananas, and oranges and used them to save lots of neuron-like cells developed in a very dish. They have taken care of the cells with hydrogen peroxide, which could cause oxidative anxiety, and tested when the fruit extracts could preserve the cells from harm and passing away.

Apples enable neurons and Blood Vessels

First, scientists checked out harm to the protective membrane that surrounds the cells to view when the fruit extract could eliminate them from springing leaks attributable to the toxic peroxide. Next, researchers measured the specific peroxide-induced loss of life in the cells and the fruit phenols’ capability to save them.

The fruit extracts that were tested proved effective in protecting against membrane damage and cell death. However, the apple extract showed the highest potency.

Again, because the brain utilizes a large share of the body’s oxygen, blood delivery through a healthier circulatory strategy is a large element. And the overall health of the endothelial cells that make up the vascular method is extremely essential for overall mental well-being and health and fitness.

In this experiment, the apple extract met the problem once again. Scientists have taken care of endothelial cells in a dish that has a toxin recognized to eliminate them and had been able to forestall the cell loss of life using the apple extract.

So, there you’ve it. Are apples good for you Yes, they are. We should keep in mind all that stuff our grandmother advised us and require heed. An apple a day certainly may well maintain the physician’s absence and support maintain good mind performance as we age.

Eating one or two apples daily can help keep the doctor away.

The Sweet Poison: How Sugar Harms Your Body

How Sugar Affects Your Metabolism and Causes Weight Gain

The trouble sugar causes to your body.

Sugar is a simple carbohydrate that is found naturally in many foods, such as fruits and vegetables, and is also added to many processed foods. While sugar can provide a quick source of energy, it can also hurt your metabolism and lead to weight gain.

When you consume sugar, it is quickly absorbed into your bloodstream, causing your blood sugar levels to rise. In response, your pancreas releases insulin, a hormone that helps your body use or store sugar. If you consume too much sugar, your body may become resistant to insulin, leading to a condition known as insulin resistance. This can cause your body to store fat and make it harder to lose weight.

In addition, sugar can also affect your metabolism in other ways. When you consume sugar, your body releases dopamine, a neurotransmitter that can make you feel good. This can lead to cravings for more sugar, which can cause you to overeat and gain weight.

Finally, sugar can also affect your metabolism by causing inflammation in your body. Inflammation can decrease your metabolic rate, making it harder for your body to burn calories.

Overall, consuming too much sugar can hurt your metabolism and lead to weight gain. To maintain a healthy weight, limiting your intake of added sugars and focusing on eating whole, unprocessed foods is important.

The Link Between Sugar and Chronic Diseases

The trouble sugar cause to your body
The link between sugar and chronic diseases is complex, and the scientific evidence is still being studied. However, excessive sugar consumption can hurt health.

High sugar intake has been linked to an increased risk of obesity, Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and Stroke. In addition, sugar consumption has been associated with an increased risk of certain types of cancer, such as colorectal cancer.

The mechanism by which sugar contributes to chronic diseases is not fully understood. However, it is thought that sugar consumption can lead to an increase in inflammation, which is a key factor in the development of many chronic diseases. In addition, sugar can lead to increased insulin resistance, a risk factor for type 2 diabetes.

Excessive sugar consumption can also lead to increased triglycerides, a type of fat found in the blood. High levels of triglycerides are associated with an increased risk of heart disease.

Finally, sugar consumption can lead to an increase in free radicals, which are molecules that can damage cells and contribute to the development of chronic diseases.

In conclusion, the link between sugar and chronic diseases is complex and still being studied. However, excessive sugar consumption can hurt the health and increase the risk of chronic diseases.

The Role of Sugar in Inflammation and Immune System Dysfunction

Sugar has been linked to inflammation and diabetes dysfunction in recent years. This is because sugar consumption can lead to an increase in the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which are molecules that are involved in the regulation of the immune system. Sugar substitutes also are not linked to a higher risk of cancer in people. Additionally, sugar consumption can lead to an increase in oxidative stress, which is a process that can damage cells and leads to inflammation.

The mechanism by which sugar can lead to inflammation and immune system dysfunction is complex. It begins with the consumption of sugar, which is broken down into glucose and fructose in the body. Glucose is then used as an energy source, while fructose is metabolized in the liver. During this process, the liver produces advanced glycation end products (AGEs), which are molecules that can cause inflammation and damage to cells. Additionally, fructose can lead to an increase in uric acid levels, which can also cause inflammation.

In addition to the production of AGEs and uric acid, sugar consumption can also lead to an increase in the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. These cytokines are involved in the regulation of the immune system and can lead to an increase in inflammation. Additionally, sugar consumption can lead to an increase in oxidative stress, which is a process that can damage cells and leads to inflammation.

Overall, sugar consumption can lead to an increase in inflammation and immune system dysfunction. This is because sugar consumption can lead to an increase in the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, AGEs, uric acid, and oxidative stress.

Therefore, it is important to limit sugar consumption to reduce inflammation and maintain a healthy immune system.

Protecting Yourself from the Sun’s Rays

sun-protectionNow that the weather is warming up and school will soon be coming to an end, people are spending more time outdoors, partaking in their favorite activities. While the outside’s fresh air feels amazing, the sun’s beams can have an extremely harmful effect on your skin. You must take precautions.

Sunlight is important for the sustenance of all life forms in innumerable ways. In the case of humans, sun rays help in one of the most crucial ways by helping provide the most essential Vitamin D. Vitamin D, a nutrient essential for bone health and various other body maintenance works is synthesized from sunlight by the skin.

But apart from that, the sun gives off rays of light that can cause harm. The harmful rays known as ultraviolet (UV) rays are invisible to bare eyes. There are three types of UV rays based on wavelengths. UVA has the longest wavelengths from 400 to 320 nanometers followed by UVB with wavelengths between 320 to 290 nanometers.

And lastly, there are UVC rays that have the shortest wavelength of about 290 to 200 nanometers. These UV rays can cause major damage to the skin. The damages not only include painful sunburn, but excessive exposure to sunlight may also cause aging, wrinkling, allergic reactions, and even skin cancer. UV rays can also worsen existing skin diseases.

The skin’s outer layer has cells containing the pigment melanin which protects the skin from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. However, excessive exposure to sunlight stimulates the skin to produce more melanin and becomes dark. But fortunately, due to the natural process, the dark skin fades when new cells move to the surface and tanned cells are sloughed off.

Sun rays are essential for every living being. Even a small amount of UV rays are good as they help create Vitamin D, which absorbs calcium. The body needs calcium which is essential for maintaining healthy bones.

Even UV rays can be used to disinfect or sterilize as well as treat some health conditions like eczema, rickets, psoriasis, or jaundice.

Overexposure to sunlight can lead to: There are many benefits of proper exposure to sunlight, but excessive exposure is not good. Here let us examine the issues with overexposure to sunlight.

Skin changes: Skin cells with melanin may form a clump which can further grow to become moles and freckles and may subsequently worsen to the Cancer stage.

Early aging: Overexposure to sunlight may trigger the skin to age faster. The signs are wrinkles, tight or leathery skin as well as dark spots.

Poor immune system: White blood cells protect the body. The white blood cells help to create new cells when the skin gets damaged due to overexposure to sunlight. This result affects the immune system.

Eye defects: Overexposure to UV rays can develop eye defects. It may damage the tissues in the eyes, and burn the cornea which as a result will affect vision power. Over time, one may develop cataracts and it may even cause complete/partial blindness when left untreated.

Skin cancer: Overexposure to harmful sun rays can cause skin cancer. Skin cancer tends to spread to other body parts when left untreated. Irrespective of age, gender, or skin color, overexposure to harmful sun rays can invite major trouble.

Best practices for sun protection: How much sun exposure is safe without sunscreen? Avoid exposure to sunlight for an extended time: The best practice is to avoid direct exposure to sunlight for an extended time mostly during the period between 10 am and 4 pm. This is the time when the sun’s rays are strongest. The intensity and impact may vary with locations and seasons.

Take a break: Some professions may not allow avoiding working under the sun, i.e., farmers, laborers, construction workers, etc. Either they can take a break when the intensity is high or can use an umbrella.

Proper clothing: Pull up clothing that completely covers the body parts preventing sunlight to come in direct contact with the skin. Using sunglasses works effectively for the eyes. This rule is a must for babies, kids, and elderly persons.

Sunscreen: Apply sunscreen for 30 minutes before stepping out into the sun. Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours. Even reapplying sunscreen after swimming or sweating is good practice. Sunscreen with higher SPF protects against UV rays. As the FDA suggests, using SPF 15 or greater would be the best.

When to see a doctor: If you notice anything unusual on your skin, rush to the doctor. Early detection can help treat the condition and prevent it from worsening. Well, regular screenings can be much more helpful.

The strongest UV rays are outside between the hours of 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. If you must be outdoors during that time, simple steps can help reduce your skin to sun damage. The easiest thing to do is wear a hat, long sleeves, and long pants to keep your skin covered. If that’s unrealistic for you, the second preventive measure is to use sunscreen, even if it’s a cloudy day.

sunglasses - protectionGet UV Protection Sunglasses

The ozone layer is doing a bad job of keeping the ultraviolet radiation out. You’re scared of getting skin cancer. True, you should be scared, but that doesn’t mean you have to cower inside your house and live like a hermit. No, go outside for at least 30 minutes each day.

You’ve got to man up and step out for some sun. If the sun wants to wage war, you give him a war he cannot forget. It’s too bright outside? Well then, just get a pair of UV Protection Sunglasses and get back out there.

About UV Protection Sunglasses

The sun is the source of all energy on our planet. However, the sun also emits dangerous radiation. Luckily, the atmosphere and the ozone layer filter out most of the harmful rays of the sun. But thanks to our destructive nature, the protective layer around the planet is being damaged. We need to find newer ways to protect ourselves.

UV Protection Sunglasses are designed to keep your eyes safe from the long-term effects of UV ray exposure. If you’re in the sun for too long, you suffer the risk of eye damage, including chances of developing cataracts, macular degeneration, pinguecula, pterygia, and Photokeratitis or Ultraviolet Keratitis. Sunglasses should be designed to protect your eyes from 100% of UV Rays, and they should also absorb the sun’s high-energy visible (HEV) radiation.

UV Protection Sunglasses should be able to capture all three types of UV rays, UVC, UVB, and UVA. Overexposure to UV rays leads to the development of severe eye problems, so if you’re planning on heading to a sunnier location, you’ll need to get yourself a pair of UV Protection Sunglasses.

Sun is one of the biggest reasons why life exists on the face of the Earth and who knows maybe it is the reason for the life of other living creatures on the other planet than the Earth. It is very much needed if life has to survive here. Sun looks like a huge ball that is made up of different hot gases. These gases are converted into heat and light energy in the core of the sun.

The energy is released into the solar system from the interior layers of the sun. The bigger part of the sun consists of hydrogen, it covers up almost 72% of the gases found in the sun. The second biggest area is covered by helium which sums up to almost 26% while only a little oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, magnesium, silicon, and a few other gases make up for the left vacant spaces. Does sunscreen prevent tanning? No.

The energy which the 3rd planet Earth gets in the face of light and heat is not a direct one. Meaning it has to come up with many things and counter some obstacles to reach here. One of those biggest counters is the Ozone layer that is covering the whole Earth! The ozone layer is made up basically of oxygen and it is there to protect us from the ultraviolet rays of the sun if there would be no ozone layer, people on the Earth would be suffering from skin cancer and eye damage of different types.

Well, coming back to the point, one must take extra care while exposing himself to the rays of the sun. It does not matter whether that exposure is for long intervals or short, one has to take measures to guard against UV rays.

5 ways to protect yourself from the sun? What is the best way to protect your skin from sun-related damage? The necessary protection includes those clothing that covers up the body completely and the remaining part should be lotion with Sun block or sun protection. Sun protection lotions are widely available in the market ranging from as low as $20 to as high as hundreds of dollars. But there should be no compromise with the health of any kind whatsoever.

Always choose the sun product wisely, those products that contain only natural ingredients including Zinc Oxide, and no chemicals that can badly affect your skin. Read the label. Your skin isn’t made to be roughly treated but it is made to be treated with care. It will neither be able to succumb to the UV rays nor are those chemicals found in the different products debilitating.

You can also choose to have the sunglasses delivered to your home or office address, and if you’ve shopped online before, you can retrieve your saved address and save yourself the trouble of typing it again. So, before you head out that door, make sure you have bought yourself a pair of much-needed UV protection sunglasses.

It is important to update the sunscreens you have in your home and become more sun savvy. Every summer there is a dizzying array of sun protection products on the shelves. All of them have varying SPF factors, formulations, and targeted advertising, it is understandably difficult to determine what brand and kind of sunscreen can best meet our needs. always choose Zinc Oxide based sun protection.

However, whether your goal is time at the beach, outside play for the children, or protection for doing work outdoors, Zinc Oxide Sunscreens outperform other types on the market.

So why is Zinc Oxide best? The secret is the way the formula counters typical sun exposure. The sun’s damaging UV rays begin penetrating the skin immediately upon contact with sunlight, even if you are driving down the road or working inside an office building, if the sunlight can warm your skin, you are in danger of being exposed to damaging rays. While glass typically does block most UVB rays, UVA rays are still able to get through.

The formula containing Zinc Oxide acts as a reflection of these rays. It is literally as though millions of tiny mirrors on the skin’s surface are reflecting those harmful UV rays away.

This is important because many sunscreens are not considered “broad spectrum” sunscreens, meaning they do not block both UVA and UVB rays. Many sunscreens also provide a chemical block only instead of a physical block. With a chemical block, the sun’s rays come into contact with the sunscreen and the chemicals degrade the effect of the sun. With a physical block, the rays are instead deflected.

Furthermore, Zinc Oxide Sunscreens are not harmful to the skin and will not produce allergic reactions in the way that some primarily chemical sunscreens can.

Even better, Zinc Oxide Sunscreen allows you to go into the sun immediately. Typical advice is to wait 15 – 30 minutes after applying sunscreen to allow the product to penetrate the skin. Failure to follow this advice can lead to painful burns and possibly other damage.

With Zinc Oxide Sunscreen, this problem and the worry associated with it is eliminated. Always check your specific product, however, to determine whether other chemicals need more saturation time. The product will always state its directions. While we might think we have heard it all before when it comes to sun safety, it’s worth restating how important using proper sunscreen can be.

Some estimates indicate that 4 million new cases of skin cancers are diagnosed each year. The Mayo Clinic recently named skin disorders, including cancers or precancerous lesions, at the very top of its list of reasons for seeing patients!

While many forms of treatment are far more advanced than ever before, no one wants to suffer needlessly. A dollop of preventive protection is worth a series of treatments any day!

Benefits of Vitamin D from sunlight: Vitamin D from sunlight ensures some of the vital body functions, most notably, the regulation of the absorption of calcium and phosphorus, the main building blocks of bone, for maintaining proper health. It also has a significant role play in the nerve, muscle, and immune systems.

Some other health benefits of Vitamin D include the strengthening of teeth and bones, immune system empowerment, prevention of cancer, improving brain function, mood stabilization, and relief from depression. Among other good impacts of Vitamin D are Weight Loss Management, recovery from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, and of course, Heart disease.

Reasons not to wear sunscreen… None. So, this summer, remember having a lovely tan may make you feel and look fabulous, but it’s important to be fully protected from the danger of sun exposure.

Accelerating the Healing Process: Tips for Speeding Up Wound…

How to Speed Up Wound Healing

Everyone during his or her lifetime gets cuts and scrapes along the way. According to doctors’ estimation, Americans are getting more than 12 million cuts and other wounds every year.

Protein is essential for healing cuts and wounds, but it isn’t always available where you need it most. Only about 10% of the body’s protein is found in the skin, and the rest is used elsewhere in the body. Protein is used for energy before it goes to healing. The need for protein can double when your body goes into healing mode.

For example, when you get 50 grams of protein per day, you have to increase this to 100 grams per day, when you have burned yourself.

The amount of protein you need depends mainly on the severity of the wound. If you are recovering from massive burns, for example, you may need to increase your protein intake by stirring power protein into a shake. Cereal, soups, and gravies, having desserts made with eggs, such as pudding or custard, and adding shredded cheese to vegetable dishes.

How do heal wounds faster naturally? Meats are one of the best sources of protein. For example, a 3-ounce serving of flank steak has 23 grams of protein, which is about 46% of the Daily Value. If you are not a meat eater, you can also get protein from fish, beans, nuts, and grains.

Tofu is also an impressive source of protein. A 4-ounce serving has more than 9 grams, which is about the same as you get from 11/4 ounces of ground beef.

Orange juice is a favorite home remedy against colds because the Vitamin C it contains helps to strengthen your immune system. Vitamin C helps with wounds as well. You are more susceptible to infections if you’re not getting enough vitamin C in your diet. Be careful orange juice contains lots of sugar.

Also, Vitamin C is essential for strengthening collagen, the tissue that helps to hold skin cells together. When there is not enough vitamin C in your diet, collagen gets weaker and it takes longer for wounds to heal. Tissue integrity, the actual strength of the skin, relies on Vitamin C.

How to deal with wounds faster naturally?

Whether you have a cut, a burn, or any other kind of wound, it’s a good idea to get at least 500 mg of Vitamin C per day. Or about 8 times the recommended daily Value of 60 mg. You can take even more than that – up to 1000 mg a day. Plus it helps to clear arteries.

Maintaining healthy hair is very pertinent when you take a daily dose of Vitamin C which is a panacea for strong and healthy hair. In this regard, collagen may take start to age over time and starts breaking down. Without quality Vitamin C foods it is very much too challenging to control hair fall problems which may be very much disastrous for the nourishment of healthy hair.

What foods speed up wound healing? Fruits and vegetables like strawberries, pomegranates, cantaloupe, blueberries, watermelon, and kale are great for your health. For example, a half-cup serving of red bell peppers has 95 mg of Vitamin C, or 158% of the Daily Value, while an orange has nearly 70 mg, r 116% of the daily value.

How to Speed Up Wound Healing 99For a superb Vitamin C kick, grab Guava. One Guava contains 165 mg of Vitamin C or 275% of the daily value.

If you saw a jar of honey in a doctor’s black bag, you’d just assume that he packed it in the dark. But as it turns out, doctors have been using honey for centuries. “Up until World War II, honey was used commonly to treat skin wounds”. With the introduction of antibiotics in the 1940s, honey was taken out of doctor’s bags and returned to the kitchen.

But today, doctors are trying to bring it back into circulation as a medicine. “We’re finding that doctors are starting to use honey where modern medicine has been tried – and have failed – to cure skin wounds.” according to the late Dr. Molan.

How to speed up wound healing? Honey contains three ingredients that make it ideal for treating wounds. Because it’s high in sugar, it absorbs much of the moisture inside wounds, making it hard for bacteria to survive, the late Dr. Molan explains. In addition, many honey varieties contain large amounts of hydrogen peroxide, the same medicine you can use at home to disinfect cuts and scrapes. Finally, some honey contains propolis, a compound in nectar that can kill bacteria.

Many people don’t get enough Zinc, a mineral that helps grow tissues and repair themselves. Slow wound healing is often s sign that you’re not getting enough of this important mineral. The daily value for Zinc is 15 mg. This doesn’t sound like a lot, but getting enough zinc can be tricky since only 20% of the zinc in foods is absorbed during digestion. However, eating zinc-rich foods along with protein from animal foods will help the absorption of zinc.

How do heal wounds faster naturally? An excellent source of zinc is oysters, with 1/2 cup providing 8 mg or 54% of the DV. Wheat germ is also good, with 1 2/3 tablespoon containing about 2 mg, or 13% of the DV.

How to speed up skin regeneration? Water keeps your skin hydrated, which is important while helping to heal burns. Drink eight 8-ounce glasses per day.

How to Speed Up Wound HealingFocus on Omega-3 fatty acids. Fat helps your body to build new cells, and they become part of every cell membrane. Choose oily fish, walnuts, and flaxseed.

In Asia, where people eat little or no meat, diseases such as heart disease, breast cancer, and diabetes, are far less common than in the United States. Naturally lean is something that makes vegetarian meals so healthy that they don’t have all the saturated fat and cholesterol that comes from meat.

While most Americans get about 36% of their total calories from fat, vegetarians get less, usually between 30% and 34%. And most of the fat they get is the healthier polyunsaturated and monounsaturated type – and not the dangerous saturated fat that comes from animal foods.

Get a full range of vitamins and minerals. If your diet is not always up to par (and nobody is perfect), consider taking a multivitamin, preferably one from Nature’s Way, as an insurance policy against a shortfall of essential Vitamins and minerals, most doctors suggest. These include B Vitamins, which help your body use energy from carbohydrates to rebuild tissue; Vitamin K, which helps blood clot; and Vitamin A, which helps collagen from supportive nets and skin cells reproduce. Hope this helps you.

Eleuthero – Siberian Ginsengenergy boosters 2

Eleuthero has been referred to for centuries as Siberian Ginseng due to the resemblance of the two plants. When studied, it was found that eleuthero had several physical and physiological benefits on humans and animals alike. Of these, the ability of the herb to protect the adrenal glands, thereby increasing the ability to withstand periods of severe stress without harsh side effects, is the most notable.

This was studied in several stressful situations including infection, blood loss, heat, cold and more.

Similarly, the plant is cited to provide a significant boost in immune function, which is one of the various things that stress can affect negatively if it is not effectively treated.

Licorice Root

Licorice root, like eleuthero, works to help improve the balance of the adrenal glands, making it one of the best adaptogens for stress relief. In theory, constant stress causes the adrenal gland to release the hormones cortisol and adrenaline on an almost constant basis, reducing the effectiveness of these hormones when a situation that should be incredibly stressful presents itself.

Licorice root relieves adrenal gland ‘exhaustion’ and allows the body to work in the way it was designed to work. The root of the plant contains a substance known as Glycyrrhizin Acid that stimulates proper adrenal function and ensures that the proper hormones are released at the proper times.

TurmericTurmeric is a bright-orange relative of ginger that has gained superfood status over the last few years, and it is also one of many powerful adaptogens for stress relief. By positively treating a host of conditions without bothersome side effects, this herb easily lowers stress and helps individuals feel healthier overall.

astragalusAstragalus is a Chinese herb that has been used for centuries to treat individuals who have compromised immune systems. For astragalus to be most effective, it must build up in the body over time. The herb will help to regulate the adrenal glands, allowing the right hormones to be released into the bloodstream at just the right times.

Rhodiola is very popular in Russia and surrounding countries and it is gaining popularity in the United States. Rather than preventing stress, Rhodiola works to enhance the way that the body reacts to it. For instance, the herb is well-known for positive energy boosters providing energy and mental clarity, two things that are often lacking in individuals who are faced with stressful situations regularly.

Similarly, studies have shown that it can decrease the heart rate and reduce blood pressure. Rhodiola is commonly taken by athletes, pilots, and other groups whose professions can be particularly stressful.

Stress can have a serious effect on the body, and it could even kill you if it is left untreated. Thankfully, adaptogens for stress relief can help to improve how your body handles and reacts to stress.

Not only can these natural energy boosters food and apoptogenic herbs improve the way you feel, but they could also save your life.

The Power of Essential Vitamins

Essential Vitamins

Vitamins are essential food factors. They don’t nourish or provide energy but enable nourishment to be utilized and energy to be generated. Vitamins are activators and regulators, and when they are present in our foods in adequate amounts, they ensure good health. When vitamins are lacking in our foods, deficiency diseases, like heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, and arthritis, soon manifest themselves.

Although the discovery of vitamins goes back to the beginning of the last century, men have long recognized the existence of food factors that cured the disease. In 460 B.C. The famous Greek physician Hippocrates correctly advised giving ox liver ( which is rich in vitamin A ) for eye diseases. He also described the disease we know as scurvy, which can be cured with vitamin C.

Captain James CookIn 1768 Captain James Cook sailed around the earth, a journey that took “3 years”. He returned without a single death among his crew from scurvy, which was a remarkable achievement in those days. His secret was: he served his men a drink made of sprouted barley, prepared fresh daily, and used liberally.

Unknown to Cook, this drink supplied an abundance of Vitamin C, which is essential to prevent Scurvy.

The RDA Levels, which are daily dietary allowances, recommended by the U.S. Government, consisting of Vitamin C (against scurvy) 60mg, Vitamin E, 15 IU, and Vitamin D (against Rickets) 200 IU, did a good job to eliminate those diseases, but consuming the RDA’s will not even come close to helping prevent degenerative disease, and our EPIDEMIC health stats prove that.

Here follows a list of the 10 essential vitamins and minerals:

Vitamin A

This is needed to prevent eye, ear, nose, and sinus trouble; it also prevents kidney and bladder ailments, skin disturbances, and gallbladder infections. This vitamin is essential to prevent Respiratory ailments, such as Bronchitis, Coughs, Colds, etc., and for Colitis and other infections of the Intestinal tract. The richest source of Vitamin A is Fish Liver Oil.

Vitamin B Vitamin B Group: Essential B vitamins group comprises at least eleven vitamins, i.e., B1, B2, B6, B12, pantothenic acid, inositol, niacin, folic acid, biotin, para-amino-benzoic acid, choline, and possible others. A lack of these vitamins can have a damaging effect on the nerves, skin, digestion, appetite, eyes, blood cell supply, and muscle tone, and can cause anemia, headache, migraine, constipation, chronic fatigue, and other ailments. The best sources of the B group vitamins are unprocessed cereals.

Vitamin B1(thiamin) is needed for overweight conditions, palpitation, headache, irritability, excessive fatigue, and edema. Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) loses its potency when exposed to light. This vitamin is beneficial for sores or cracks at the corners of the mouth, burning or dryness of the eyes, disorders of the cornea of the eye, burning sensation of the feet, and ‘twilight’ blindness. It is useful for cataracts in conjunction with vitamins C and E.

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) This vitamin is used for the more serious forms of neuro-muscular and nervous disease, such as disseminated sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, muscular dystrophy, and Parkinson’s disease; in conjunction with certain other vitamins. It also gives relief in the ‘morning sicknesses of pregnancy.blueberries-vitamins

Vitamin B12 was discovered in 1948 and is now being used most successfully (together with other vitamins) to combat pernicious anemia. This vitamin has several other uses. Beneficial in multiple sclerosis, and other neuro-muscular diseases; in osteoarthritis, osteoporosis (brittle or soft bones), and skin troubles.

Choline. The function of choline is to transport fats in the body. When choline is lacking, fats accumulate in the liver and can lead to liver cirrhosis. a rich source of Choline is liver and wheat germ. It is also found in peas, cabbage, potatoes, soya beans, and spinach.

Folic Acid stimulates the normal growth and reproduction of red blood cells in the bone marrow. The principal use of folic acid is to prevent simple anemia, and it has been used with success to cure this ailment. Folic acid should not be used for pernicious anemia, for which vitamin B12 is necessary.

Niacinamide (Niacin) has proved beneficial for vertigo, nausea, vomiting, skin lesions, head noises, insomnia, neuritis, tender gums, diarrhea, depression, and loss of appetite. A severe deficiency of niacinamide can give rise to pellagra. The symptoms of this disease are skin disorders, digestive disturbances, degeneration of the nervous tissue, and mental aberrations. Pellagra is common among those whose diet has been deficient in the liver, lean meat, milk, eggs, and other protein foods, also green vegetables.

Pantothenic acid is required for the growth and normal functioning of living cells. The richest sources are liver, yeast, and rice polishing. Egg yolk, peanuts, wheat germ, molasses, soybeans, dried peas, and beans are also good sources of this vitamin, which is partially lost by the head of cooking and the use of sodium bicarbonate when cooking vegetables. It is also leached away in the water used for cooking vegetables.

Pantothenic acid is very effective for painful burning feet and the pains of neuritis. It has also been beneficial for inflammation of the intestines and stomach. According to Adelle Davis in “Let’s Eat Right to Keep Fit”, pantothenic acid improves defective memories and ‘appears to offer awards of positive health and perhaps can help to extend youthfulness.’

Para-Amino-Benzoic Acid (PABA) in serious diseases like lupus, rare skin disease, and other vitamins. It is effective in preventing and healing sunburn.

essential b vitaminsVitamin C is destroyed by cooking. A lack of vitamin C can result in influenza and colds and fragile capillaries, spongy and bleeding gums, joint pains, rheumatism and arthritis, and bone ailments. It is needed for tissue replacement, cartilage, and strong teeth and bones. What should you eat best sources of vitamin C are fruits and vegetables.

Vitamin D is essential to prevent and cure rickets. It is also required to ensure healthy teeth and bones, normal growth, and heart function. The effect of sunlight on the skin’s oil glands causes a provitamin called ‘ergosterol’ to be secreted on the skin’s surface. After the ergosterol is acted upon by the sun’s ultraviolet rays, it is converted into vitamin D and absorbed into the body through the skin.

Vitamin E. This vitamin is normally present in cereals, cereal, and vegetable oils, before the various refining and attractive processes are commenced. A lack of essential vitamins E gives rise to serious heart ailments, hypertension, high blood pressure, rheumatic heart trouble, hardening of the arteries, varicose veins and ulcers, loss of muscular power, cataract, kidney and liver ailments, and retinal diseases. Vitamin E strengthens muscle tissue and reduces the body’s requirements for oxygen. It also improves circulation, dissolves blood clots, and prevents their formation.

Vitamin F (Lecithin) – also known as unsaturated fatty acids. The best sources of this vitamin are unprocessed cereal and vegetable oils, such as soybean oil, wheat germ oil, peanut oil, olive oil, etc. Levitin is needed to prevent eczema, dandruff, falling hair, brittle nails, underweight conditions, and retarded growth. It is also beneficial in emulsifying cholesterol, a hard and waxy substance that silts up veins and arteries, and leads to the hardening of the arteries and thrombosis.

Vitamin K. Essential vitamins is concerned with the normal coagulation of blood. When it is lacking, blood takes longer to coagulate. Vitamin K concentration tends to be low in newborn babies, which explains several cases of hemorrhagic disease in the newly born. It is now usual to give expectant mothers vitamin K injections, late in pregnancy. Vitamin K is found chiefly in the leaves of green vegetables.

Vitamin P (the flavonoids) comprises hesperidin, rutin, and citrinin Hesperidin is a flavonoid extracted from oranges and appears to be more effective when taken with vitamin C, as each supplement reinforces the action of the other, called synergy. Rutin is obtained from buckwheat.

Extensive clinical research has shown that flavonoids are necessary to prevent capillary fragility. When the capillaries are healthy, the absorption of infection from mucous surfaces during the common cold and influenza is greatly reduced and both ailments are more quickly and easily thrown off.

One of the most popular skin problems is acne. Acne is caused by sebaceous glands that release a secretion to moisturize the skin. These glands become overactive and produce too much oil. The result is clogged pores, which leads to breakouts. Luckily, green tea can help you treat this condition.

It contains antioxidants called polyphenols. They’re thought to reduce inflammation and protect against UV damage. Polyphenols have also been shown to improve the health of your skin.

There is a lot of research on the effects of green tea on the skin it works. Some studies have shown that it can aid in the treatment of acne. But more research is needed.

Green tea is a botanical medicine brewed from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. These leaves are high in antioxidants and catechins. This extract can be found in skincare products, cosmetics, and supplements.

green-tea 4Green tea’s antioxidants can have a protective effect against skin cancer. However, more study is needed to determine whether green tea can be used as a natural acne treatment.

EGCG is a polyphenol found in green tea that has anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have shown that EGCG can reduce IGF-1 and inflammation in the body. Additionally, EGCG helps control the production of sebum in the sebaceous glands.

Another reason green tea effectively reduces blemishes and clears up acne is its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. These compounds can kill the bacteria that is causing your acne.

Unlike some types of tea, green tea has a higher level of antioxidants. The antioxidant content of green tea is up to “five times” greater than black tea.

When choosing a green tea for hi-tea, look for an extract that has high levels of EGCG. You can find these products online. Before using any new product, test it out on a small area of your forearm. If you have sensitive skin, it is best to speak with a dermatologist.

Aside from antioxidants, green tea has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. It can inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause acne. Moreover, it can kill bacteria that can cause systemic bacterial inflammation.

The polyphenols found in green tea can also help you combat sun damage. This is because tea polyphenols can act as a natural sunscreen, which helps protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

Green tea benefits because it is rich in vitamins B and E, which are essential for maintaining collagen production. Vitamin E nourishes your skin and promotes cell regeneration.

In addition, the tannins in green tea work as a skin toner. Tannins are biomolecules that bind with amino acids in your body. By doing so, they control your sebum production and shrink your pores.

Tea contains antioxidants, and many studies have shown that they can improve skin health. For example, research has found that polyphenols in tea can reduce skin inflammation, and they can also improve skin elasticity.

Studies have shown that green tea can help you avoid the development of skin cancer. Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), one of the active ingredients in green tea, has been proven to have positive effects in the treatment of acne and rosacea. Similarly, research has shown that catechins, another component in green tea, have antibiotic properties. So, drink green tea every day.

You can find products containing these compounds online. However, you should check the amount of EGCG in the product you’re considering. If you choose to buy a product, it’s best to choose the highest amount of EGCG possible.

“All Tea” is made from the same plant. The different flavors are infused to give you a smooth flavorful and delicate tea.

All tea comes from the Camellia Sinensis plant. The steps of processing that the leaves undergo to determine what type of tea it becomes, oxidation being the most important.

The Benefits of Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent Fasting

Prepare yourself. You might have heard or talked to friends that become unrelenting do-nothing and also lose all the unwanted fat you desire. Take notice of the fact that I have written body fat, which will be absolutely the opposite of cutting just body weight. Here’s the guarantee for you at the end of this blog you will have the requisite perfunctory comprehension to cut every bit of your body fat, get into the peak shape of your life, and still further extend your lifetime much lengthier.Intermittent Fasting 6

Read the entire blog to get every last bit of our most amazing tactics and magic regarding attaining the fitness level of your wildest dreams with much less work. I plan to say it as shortly as possible and actionable.

Misconception 1

You have to eat in increments of three or four hours such that you stoke your metabolism fire.

Every one of the health and fitness magazines in existence might give you the same story. Question any fitness coach or advisor and they should confirm that you need to munch every few hours or the metabolism fire would stop short. Here’s the thing that isn’t true.

Supposing you don’t eat, the burning of fat in reality elevates. Starving will with time stop your metabolic fire, however, you will never let that happen; I promise. Here’s the way to hurdle this fib. Go for 2 or 3 big well-portioned square meals every day. Have breakfast, a noontime meal, and your pm meal and time nutrients proper then you will not ever be bothered to despair about planning meals in the future.

Misconception #2

Our gastrointestinal system may just use BLANK measurement of protein-rich food at each time.

Even though it appears that this may be true, is not true. Clinical studies demonstrate that should one take on 90 g. from protein foods during the daytime, it would be digested the same way by three 30 g increments or via only one ninety-gram feeding, considering that the diet needs the protein.Intermittent Fasting 2

Guzzling some whey protein about every 2 or 3 hours might make you boost the hormone insulin as well as deter burning fat; but that strategy without a doubt moves a hell of a lot of whey isolate jugs, which makes profits for the enterprises who publish those same health and fitness rags.

Benefits of intermittent fasting, what a coincidence! A quick fix would be to consume as many proteins as you will require at every mealtime. Usually, have one gram for a single pound of body weight any single day of your life. A person who registers at two-hundred lbs must eat two hundred grams of protein foods daily. If you want to find the approximate amount for any one meal time, go ahead and divide the daily total by two or three. I comprehend that when I eat three square meals, I should take in about sixty grams of protein stuff for each feeding just to target the daily requirements.

Misconception 3

I am forced to do tons of cardiovascular exercise to get rid of fatty tissues.

Sincere apologies to everyone, however, it is untrue. The cardio does be a little power with some gym-goers. But, it would be a bit like getting an M80 to create a bang. We all know it works; however, this may not be good enough for a great big change. Say you are trying to blow off fat mass, in contrast, resistance training will be the neutron warhead.Intermittent Fasting 11

We would get to be very lean by only correct exercise and a diet plan for weight loss with intermittent fasting. I sometimes like to add cardiovascular training whenever I want it, only perhaps to troubleshoot and enable the heart health components. Bottom line: fix your diet first and you will always stir in a bit of cardiovascular exercise right after the resistance-training program. When you do not weight train on any particular occasion, merely execute a little bit of cardiovascular exercise upon waking in the am hours. intermittent-fasting diet

Misconception 4

You have to get an AM meal.

I just know that there will be whole-hearted retribution coming from that. I know exactly what you would write. Hey, do you think e expert proves this or that? Problem is, sometimes the science will be incorrect. And the whole purpose of scientific study is to probe dogmatic philosophies to shed light on universal laws.

People, who take breakfast most often are leaner, and yet could this be the complete universal law? Folks who consume a big breakfast might be in totality a little more diet awake, which labels them as shapelier and far more likely to be physically fit, what do you think?

We need a research trial that would compare those who breakfast with people that have not within sectors that are now healthy aware and in good shape. I guess that one would realize that fat burning might be to a large extent elevated for the ones who avoid their breakfast.Intermittent Fasting 10

Here is the tip. Take 5-10 grams of BCAA after waking and get the workout during a fasted state. Soon after, consume your most substantial, high-carbohydrate, and most-calories feeding right after. Could you exercise in the evening? Great! You must do an enormous enjoyable binge in the witching hours before sleeping! But the meal can make you should limit calories.

How does intermittent fasting work, intermittent fasting is a diet pattern where you alternate between periods of fasting and non-fasting, type of intermittent fasting, there are various intermittent fasting plans to pick from and the fasting and feeding windows can vary from program to program. One example is the 5:2 Fast Diet, which calls for five days of eating normally and then eating a quarter of your recommended daily calorie requirement for the remaining couple of days. Some fast on two successive days while others opt to do it on non-consecutive days, such as a Monday and Thursday.

Major advantages of intermittent fasting

There are numerous good reasons to fast intermittently. Most people look at this eating plan as a part of a weight loss plan. Fasting intermittently can help raise your insulin sensitivity which almost always results in more visible weight reduction. The reason for this is that the more sensitive your body is to insulin, the more likely you are to lose fat and gain muscle insulin sensitivity is higher after 8-to-10-hour fasting periods and following exercise. Thus, most of the time, experts who endorse this diet method encourage training even during a fasting state as a way to lose more fat.

Fasting for 3 days could also help you reduce triglyceride and LDL levels. Intermittent fasting can also boost the secretion of growth hormone, which has a myriad of health benefits, particularly, its ability to negate the effects of cortisol like the storage of fat in the belly. Fasting, like other types of caloric restrictions, is also associated with things like increased longevity and decreased risk of developing cardiovascular illnesses.

Intermittent Fasting

Who shouldn’t do fasting from time to time?

While this diet approach is effective and useful, it can cause unwanted effects on particular groups of people. People recuperating from surgery are discouraged from doing this type of diet. You are also discouraged from doing this if you are feeling sick or have a fever. Diabetes patients, particularly those receiving insulin, and people taking maintenance prescription drugs must consult with their doctor first before trying this. In addition, children, as well as expectant mothers or breastfeeding women, should not use this diet program.

Are there side effects?

Hunger is one of the commonest side effects of this method, particularly when you’re just starting. Eventually, you will experience hunger less often even if you eat less frequently.

In summary, the most important thing to bear in mind about fasting intermittently is to not look at it as a diet, but as a nutritional way of life. This approach is not for everybody, but it is a good way to lose excess weight and remain healthy while your body rebuilds itself internally.

You won’t ever locate a plan simpler to commit to. There’s nothing that enables many cheat days or re-feeds for a given seven days. And then moreover accumulates improving effects the longer you keep doing it.

Make sure that you drink plenty of water in the course of your fast to keep away from dehydration. It is not going to solely hold you hydrated but in addition, remove harmful toxins from your body. It is advisable to stay away from drinks that contain a lot of processed sugar or fructose. Water intake on one of the vital points in this how you can lose weight fast guide.

Most nutrition plans stall out being that you either slow your fat burning or you happen to lose steam with subsisting on tree bark and nuts. I am dispensing my tips since it is the most basic and awesome nutrition plan.

Autophagy is a process within your body that is responsible for degrading damaged and defective organelles, cell membranes, and proteins. It’s your body’s internal “maintenance system” where it identifies and discards damaged or malfunctioning parts of a cell.

Intermittent Fasting 4

Simply put, autophagy is the clean-up that needs to happen before growth and repair can occur.

Fasting greatly enhances autophagy. Autophagy is necessary to maintain muscle mass, and inhibition/alteration of autophagy can contribute to myofibril degeneration (degeneration of individual muscle fiber) and weakness in certain types of muscle disorders.

You wouldn’t want autophagy all the time fasting for weeks on end is probably not the best thing you could do for your muscle), but you do need a healthy balance of autophagy and growth for the optimal functioning of the human body. Keto intermittent fasting is another option.

So, in a nutshell:

Eating every 2-3 hours is not necessary to gain muscle. Fasting now and then could potentially help you gain muscle. You can’t constantly bulk and expect all those excess calories to help you gain muscle…you’re just going to get fat.

Here is a video from my cardiologist on fasting benefits: Dr. Pradip Jamnadas.

Oils: A Necessity for Optimal Health

Our body needs Oils

Benefits of Olive OilResearchers started studying Greeks living on the island of Crete more than 40 years ago, they were amazed to find that although the traditional Greek diet is very high in fat, people had exceptionally low rates of heart disease.

Olive oil plays a critical part in their diet; we would do well if we followed their example. Olive oil, which is made of crushed olives, not only appears to “possibly” lower the risk of heart disease after all good fats are healthy.

Olive oil, long-known for its heart health benefits, has now been identified for its destruction of cancer cells. While scientists have proven that the oleocanthal compound has been unable to explain this phenomenon until now. Benefits of Olive Oil

Paul Breslin, the study’s co-author, said “The mechanism of protecting cells and sparing healthy cells, lysosomal membrane permeabilization, has been hypothesized as a possible mechanism of effectively making healthy cells tissues but has never been realized before. Our realization of this makes this paper of particular therapeutic interest for treatment.”

The study’s focus on the effect of oleocanthal on cancerous and un-cancerous cells leads to larger implications about the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet, which is rich in Olive Oil. Breslin stated the Mediterranean diet is associated with a reduced risk of many kinds of diseases.

Whereas the entire diet likely has many benefits, this study points directly to the importance of fats in our body, as playing an especially important role in these observations. As more people turn to the Mediterranean diet as a healthy life option, oleocanthal is growing in its significance as a key active component of this diet.”

All fats, from butter and margarine to olive oil, contain almost the same number of calories. But they behave quite differently inside the body. Saturated fats, found mainly in meats and dairy foods, are incredibly destructive because the body can’t rid itself of harmful low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. Fats and oils examples.

What are oils, good fats, fats and oils examples however, is monounsaturated fat, with no more than 2 grams of saturated fat per tablespoon. Sources of omega-3 fatty acids include fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, sardines, flaxseeds, walnuts, and canola oil. Foods rich in linoleic acid and other omega-6 fatty acids include vegetable oils such as safflower, soybean, sunflower, walnut, and corn oils.

The importance of oils in the body is recommended by the American Heart Association for your food preparation. When replacing saturated fats in your diet with olive oil this lowers LDL cholesterol while leaving the beneficial high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol alone. Compared with butter, olive oil also gives us a feeling of being more satisfied. The olive oil-loving Greeks eat very little butter or margarine.

Additionally, their main meals usually consist of vegetables and legumes instead of meats. So even though they use a lot of olive oil, they get very little saturated fat. What do fats and oils do for the body? Olive oil helps to protect the cells in your body from oxidation.

Protection against Cancer with Olive Oil 3Extra-virgin olive oil may also help lower the risk of rheumatoid arthritis, according to a Greek study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Experts believe extra-virgin olive oil reduces the risk of rheumatoid arthritis because of its anti-inflammatory effects. One study found that olive oil is similar to ibuprofen in reducing inflammation. Besides the monounsaturated fat in olive oil fats and oils chemistry, it also contains other disease-fighting compounds that can prevent damage to the arteries before it starts.

Several of the compounds in oil, like polyphenols, are powerful antioxidants. This means that they can destroy free radicals before they can do damage. This results in keeping your arteries clear when you use olive oil. Although olive oil is best known for protecting the heart, research suggests that it may also protect the female breasts as well.

In a study involving more than 2,500 women, researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health in Greece found that women who used olive oil more than once a day had a 25% lower risk of breast cancer than those who use it less often. Greece women are much less likely to die from breast cancer than American women.

Olive oil is rich in vitamin E, which has proved to stop cellular damage. And of course, the same polyphenols that help prevent free radicals from damaging the heart. All types of olive oils are rich in monounsaturated fats, but not all have equal amounts of disease-fighting polyphenols. Some olive oils are quite rare and exquisitely flavored and priced. Others are much more affordable.

Many cooks keep two (or more) kinds of olive oil in the kitchen a gourmet oil for drizzling on salads or pasta and a heartier oil to use for cooking.

Extra-virgin Olive Oil is the Mercedes of Oils.

It’s usually used as a flavoring oil and not for cooking. When you buy extra-virgin olive oil, look at the color. The deeper the color, the more intense the flavor. This type of oil is made from the first pressing of perfectly ripe olives, which leaves the polyphenols in and the bitter acids out. Although it’s a little bit more expensive, studies have shown that buying extra-virgin olive oil is worth your money.

Olive oil protects.

Researchers in Spain studied the role of olive oil and asked 24 men to use refined olive oil for 3 months and extra-virgin olive oil for 3 months. They found that the antioxidants in extra-virgin olive oil kept their LDL or bad cholesterol from oxidizing and slowed the formation of plaque in the arteries, but the refined oil didn’t offer this protection. Pure (also called virgin) olive oil is paler than extra-virgin and has a milder flavor. It’s usually used for low- to medium-heat frying.

Light olive oil is often used by people who want the heart-healthy benefits of monounsaturated fats but don’t want the strong olive taste.

It endures heat well, so you can use it for high-heat frying. Olive oil, which is made of crushed olives, not only appears to lower the risk of diseases.

Store it cool.

It tends to go bad on the shelf if you don’t use a lot of olive oil. It gives up both its good taste and also its protective compounds. Store olive oil in the refrigerator or another dark, cool place to keep it fresh. It will quickly restore its nature when you bring it back to room temperature.

Or look for olive oil that comes in a dark bottle to keep the light from damaging its benefits. And buy only what you need within 2 months to prevent the oil from deteriorating and tasting stale.

Read the label.

Unlocking the Power of Bee Pollen for Optimal Health

Bee Pollen Benefits

Nearly everybody knows about honey, however, not everybody knows about bee pollen benefits. Do you know the advantages of bee pollen?

* Potent Antioxidants * Prevents Allergies * Heals Prostate problems * Boosts Men’s love life * Makes Exercise Easy

Let all-natural bee pollen benefits improve your health. Make bee pollen a protein-rich accessory for your family’s healing tools.

Do you know the Health Advantages of Bee Pollen?

Who could know the health advantages of bee pollen much better than a bee? When bees help themselves to nectar to allow them to make honey, they coat their legs with pollen.

This bee pollen is collected for your colony’s principal protein food once they go back to the hive.

Bee Pollen 2Probably the most important bee pollen fact is it is full of antioxidants.

The antioxidants in bee pollen are compounds chemists call flavonoids. Bee pollen packs the punch of myricetin, quercetin, rutin, and trans-cinnamic acid. You don’t have to remember their names, but check out the things they can perform for you.

Myricetin helps white blood cells absorb the “bad” LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream. Quercetin is a natural antihistamine-the appropriate pollen could be good for your allergies! Rutin is better referred to as a treatment for varicose veins. Rutin protects veins throughout the entire body and could assist in preventing cancer too. The body uses trans-cinnamic acid to create its very own antibiotics, which are the potent nutrient that also powers the detoxifying processes of the liver.

Another key bee pollen fact is it is a supply of complete nutrition. Bee pollen is richer in protein than any flesh-based food. Gram for gram, bee pollen supplements contains more proteins than fish, beef, or eggs.

Bee Pollen Benefits for LifeWhat else is within bee pollen?

This supplement contains:

* Enzymes

* Coenzymes

* 18 proteins

* DNA and RNA

* Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, D, E, and K

* Vitamin b folic acid

* Niacin

* Pantothenic acid

* Choline

* Inositol

* Iron

* Zinc

Probably the most interesting bee pollen facts would be that the whole from the pollen is more than its nutritional parts. Insect scientists conducted an experiment where they took away bee pollen and replaced it having a synthetic mix. This “bee chow” contained every known nutrient within its food.

First, the bees neglected to thrive. Chances are they neglected to survive. Nothing artificial can replacement for natural bee pollen.

Bees then add “unknown extra” of their very own to bee pollen. This might be the main reason bee pollen is beneficial in treating several human health problems.Bee Pollen

Sneeze no longer!

Bee pollen products treat allergies. Doctors have prescribed pollen for more than one hundred years. Bee pollen injections desensitize pollen sufferers. Allergists use “allergy shots” to avoid hay fever, hives, rashes, and asthma.

Doctors developed this process at St. Mary’s Hospital in London in about 1903. Within the original method, the nurse gives an injection of pollen and water once per week for several months. The very first injection might be 1 part pollen in 100,000 areas of water. The final injection might be 1 part pollen in 10 areas of water.

These potentially painful shots teach the defense mechanisms not to answer pollen. They decrease the immune system’s power. They ensure that it stays from becoming “hypersensitive” to harmless plants.

However, when bee pollen is taken being a supplement instead of an injection, the allergies still disappear. The main difference is the defense mechanisms are stronger, not weaker.

Dr. Lee Conway of Denver, Colorado here in the United States treats his allergy patients with bee pollen. All his patients taking bee pollen each day remain free of all allergic reactions. They don’t get new allergies once they go on to new places. They stay allergy-free.

Bee Pollen Benefits 66“Half the discomfort, Twice the Pleasure.”

That’s the way a German publication for physicians described bee pollen benefits for guys with prostate problems. Over 20 scientific research have discovered that bee pollen supports men’s sexual health.

How? Chronic prostate problems are caused by the accumulation of toxins of oxygen within the seminal fluid. Toxins of oxygen result in a “burn” at the cellular level. Bee pollen puts the fire on.

Bee Pollen Benefits for allThe advantage of sexual activity without burning, dribbling, or swollen sensation is obvious. But how about bee pollen and male fertility?

By far the most comprehensive research in this region originates from China. Researchers first discovered that chronic prostate inflammation and male infertility both are caused by the accumulation of toxins of oxygen.

Then they set about finding which product stops the creation of toxins.

Their answer? Bee pollen. The top relief for infectious prostate inflammation was a mix of conventional medication and bee pollen. Bee pollen all on its own was eighty percent as good as antibiotics. Bee pollen was free from negative effects. It was expensive less.

The true secret bee pollen benefit ended up being to increase fertility. Sperm swam faster and lasted longer. These were more motile and viable.

How did bee pollen achieve this? The correct answer is zinc. Bee pollen offers a unique mixture of zinc and antioxidants. It maximizes the strength of this mineral for men’s sexual health.

Bee Pollen Benefits 72Bee Pollen is perfect for Women Too

Two decades ago American researchers found that bee pollen might treat women’s cancers. Their government sponsors quickly covered up their findings. Doctors in Austria learned about them anyway.

Dr. Peter Hernuss and his awesome team layout to assist twenty-five women struggling with inoperable uterine cancer. They couldn’t take away cancer, therefore the doctors gave the ladies chemotherapy. Half the ladies also received bee pollen. Even underneath the worst possible health conditions, bee pollen benefits were clear.

The fortunate ladies who took bee pollen using their food quickly acquired a defense mechanism boost. Their labs showed:

* Increased antibody production

* More red blood cells

* More hemoglobin

* Along with a higher power of cancer-fighting natural killer (NK) cells.

Taking bee pollen with food lessened terrible nausea that goes together with chemotherapy. To put it simply, the whole nutrition in bee pollen prevented starvation. Bee pollen prevented losing muscles.

Bee pollen benefits even included keeping hair thinning as low as possible. Without bee pollen, there was no comparable benefit.

Bee Pollen Benefits 2How Can You Use Bee Pollen?

Take two bee pollen tablets a couple of times daily with meals, or as recommended by your doctor. Scientists have discovered that bee pollen retains its antioxidant potency for approximately 3 years during storage under household conditions.

Caution: Bee pollen’s negative effects are extremely rare; however, they are possible in sensitive individuals. We have seen one case where an individual who had severe reactions to mold experienced a severe response to bee pollen the product has been improperly kept in heat and damp. It contained mold.

Bee Pollen BenefitsBee pollen will not be appropriate for ladies who are or who can become pregnant. Discontinue and talk to your doctor in the event you experience negative effects. Bee pollen reactions are uncommon in comprehensive supplements in which bee pollen is simply one part.

Air Fryer Magic: Perfectly Cooked Veggies Every Time

Cook Vegetables in an Air Fryer

Cooking in an air fryer is a hit, especially when we talk about vegetables. This is because vegetables are very sensitive to heat the air fryer works best; therefore, in addition to being a very healthy food, we must know how to cook it properly to maximize its nutritional benefits.Ninja AF101 Air Fryer that Crisps, Roasts, Reheats, & Dehydrates, for Quick, Easy Meals, 4 Quart Capacity

If one day you need to cook vegetables, but they have gone bad or you have undergone a long trip to get to the kitchen, we propose some tricks that will help you get a tasty and perfectly cooked dish. Cooking in an air fryer recipe works for almost all vegetables.

Beginners should go for easy dishes if they are new to cooking. On their own, most vegetables taste great, even raw! The best way to make most leafy vegetables, such as kale, taste great is to cook them at a very low temperature for a very short period with some olive oil, salt, and garlic. Dressings have a very strong or pungent taste, which can often overpower the slight taste and texture of most vegetables, so they should be used only for the strongest, for example, chard or spinach.

It’s all about timing

It is always essential to turn on the hood 10 minutes before cooking boiled, steamed, or sautéed vegetables, to inspect the clock on the hob (and use the timer if necessary), and to look at the color of the ingredients to prevent overcooking. Freshly picked vegetables should have a high sheen and not have lost any of their original colors like green sheen, orange or yellow.

Moreover, they should not taste bland or greasy. An air fryer can also help you to prepare your vegetables, in addition to your cookware. Since this method does not damage the food, it keeps all of the nutrients and minerals intact.

The color and flavor are also enhanced. According to the food and the result you want, you can choose between 100% steam and baking mode with additional steam. Besides vegetables, you can also prepare meat and fish with great results. Following that, we explain how to cook various vegetables, so that you always find them accurate:

You can prepare broccoli buds by boiling, steaming, or sautéing them in a pan, stirring them for about 5-8 minutes to get the perfect texture.

To cook carrots with their original color, nutrients, as well as their characteristic crunchy texture, you should boil them for 5 to 10 minutes, steam them for 4 to 5 minutes, or sauté them for 3-4 minutes.

Eggplants need to retain their magnificent purple color. The process is simple: boil them for 5-10 minutes, steam them for 5-6 minutes or sauté them for no more than 3-4 minutes.

Red peppers are cut into strips. No matter which of the three colors this product presents, its appearance is consistent. In the presence of heat, they soften quickly. The best way to preserve their sweetness is to cook them in a pan which takes about two to three minutes at most.

Cooking sweet potatoes with salt and pepper. During the steaming process, they are cooked for 5-6 minutes, then sautéed with garlic and olive oil for 3 minutes. They are delicious and contain iron.

Kale or cabbages, for example, have an important complication: Cooking their stems requires more time than cooking their leaves. Separating the stems first and steaming the leaves before adding them is our recommendation. Let’s do everything together for three minutes at a time as the last step.

While pumpkins are a fun Halloween decoration, they are not a great candidate for culinary use. Many people think you can cook them like an apple. In reality, they are difficult to cut up, they have a very strong flavor, and they will quickly go from “cooking” to “boiling” in water.

air fryer

After cooking your vegetables, you still have work to do. After shaking them thoroughly, they will not cook anymore. You may wish to do this step, especially if you are going to use the vegetable for a salad. The same applies to boiled or steamed vegetables. It’s easy to prepare a dish in advance and serve it hours later without worrying about it spoiling or losing its properties by simply shaking it. Squeezing those delivers more flavor, texture, and color.

In a bowl, mix water, a lot of ice, and half a tablespoon of salt. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the vegetables from the pot to the ice bath after they have simmered for a while. After a minute, put them on a plate and serve.

The Benefits of Fasting: How to Fast Safely and…

Fasting Facts and how to do it Safely

People have been fasting for thousands of years for religious and health reasons, and some regard it as a weight loss tool. You’ve probably seen headlines about celebrities drinking exotic fruit juices to prepare for movie roles, and heard friends talking about their weekly fast days.

Fasting is still controversial among medical experts. If you’re trying to decide whether to give up food for weight loss or other purposes, consider these suggestions for staying safe while you fast.

Deciding to Fast

1. Losing weight. Any diet extremely low in calories will cause you to lose weight quickly, but you’re likely to gain it right back. That’s because you lose water and muscle mass, and your metabolism slows down. When you resume eating, you may gain weight while consuming the same amount of food you used to be able to manage.

2. Detoxify your body. Some diet books claim that fasting will purify your system and remove environmental pollutants. Most doctors believe that your liver and other organs do that job automatically.

3. Feel empowered. The stigma associated with being overweight can create a difficult relationship with food. You may appreciate the experience of control that comes with brief fasting.

4. Practice your religion. Many faiths include rituals based on fasting. Practitioners say it heightens their awareness and brings them closer to the divine.

5. Prepare for medical treatment. Listen to your doctor when they give you directions not to eat before certain medical tests or surgery. Proper treatment may require establishing an accurate baseline or giving your body a break from digesting food.

6. Live longer. A large body of research supports a connection between consuming fewer calories and extending your life span. The tradeoffs may be worth it for you.

Techniques for Fasting Safely

1. Drink liquids. Dehydration is one of the biggest concerns during any extreme diet. If you feel dizzy or confused, drink more water, and see your doctor if the symptoms continue.

2. Clarify your terms. There are many different kinds of fasts. Most healthy individuals can handle consuming nothing but water for up to 2 days. Fasts that allow liquid calories or eating at certain hours may be feasible for longer periods.

3. Alternate days. Alternate-day fasting is a hot trend since a British TV doctor wrote a book about his experience. You may want to experiment with his formula for five days on and two days off.  Intermittent Fasting

4. Study nutrition. If you’re trying to take off weight, keep in mind that fasting is a temporary and intense approach. In the long term, it’s important to understand how to eat healthily to stay in shape. Pick up a book on nutrition and try out new recipes for vegetables.

5. Watch for side effects. In addition to dehydration, there can be other consequences to fasting. Look out for bad breath, trouble sleeping, and mood changes. You may find it helpful to decrease your level of physical activity and postpone tasks that require heavy thinking.

6. Know your risks. Some adults need to avoid fasting altogether, including pregnant women and those who suffer from diabetes. The bottom line is that there are many diets more effective than fasting if you’re trying to lose weight.

On the other hand, you may have other good reasons to stop eating temporarily. In that case, fasting may be good for your body and soul, as long as you talk with your doctor and take precautions that will keep you safe while you cut out calories.

Going Raw: A Guide to Implementing a Raw-Food Diet

Implement a Raw-Food Diet

As you hear more and more about the impact your eating has on your health and longevity, you may be considering a raw-food diet. While this lifestyle could be quite different from your usual fare, you might find that you thrive on eating mostly raw foods.

What exactly is a raw food diet? In general, it means eating only things that are in a completely natural state. This means foods that have not been processed or cooked. For some folks, this can even include raw meat, though many raw-food advocates do not eat meat, other than perhaps a little sushi.

These tips will help you make the conversion:

1. List acceptable foods that appeal to you. There are numerous books and websites available with lists of foods that conform to the principles of the diet. You’re likely to find a lot of foods you’ve never considered. Make a long list so you can provide yourself with a wide variety of foods and flavors!

2. Go shopping. Budgeting accurately may be challenging at first. While much of the food you’re likely to buy won’t be expensive, there will be a lot of it. Most raw foods don’t offer a lot of calories; you’ll be surprised how much you might need to eat.

* Avoid over-shopping, though; many of the foods won’t last as long as many processed foods.

3. Start slowly. If you’re not used to eating a lot of fruit, getting carried away might cause more than a little gastric upset. Introduce the raw foods slowly. Substitute a raw food item at each meal for something you didn’t typically eat raw. Continue adding foods over a week or two, until you’re 100% raw.

4. Throw out your processed foods. One way to be almost certain to fall off the wagon is to have other food readily available. We all have moments of weakness, so prepare for yours. Friends, family, and food banks will likely take what you no longer want to eat.

* If you have others in the house who won’t be eating raw, at least try to get rid of the items you’ll find most tempting.

5. Take a good multivitamin. Certain nutrients may be unavailable with a raw diet, and Vitamin B-12 is the classic example. Even if you’re not eating vegan and you usually scoff at manufactured supplements, talk to your doctor before you dismiss the idea.

6. Remember to get enough protein. Protein is another major nutrient you might lack if you’re not careful. Eating balanced meals is just as important as ever.

7. Keep adjusting until your diet is right for you. Assess how you feel. Are you losing weight? Are you losing too much weight? Are there other foods you’d like to try? Are there foods you’d like to eliminate?

8. Give raw foods for at least 30 days. If you can go 30 days without cheating, you should have an excellent idea of whether or not a raw-food diet is something that you want to continue. Any foods eaten outside of the diet will tend to interfere with an accurate assessment.

If a raw-food lifestyle is something you want to try, give the above steps a shot. Changing dietary habits is frequently a challenge; our bodies and minds get used to certain foods. Expect some challenging times over your first 30 to 60 days. However, keep in mind that medical data indicates that our dietary choices have a huge impact on our health.

Maybe a raw-food diet is an answer for you. Try it.
